Many of Masser’s caliper programs include the option for pile volume measurement. User needs to measure average height, width and log length and give a conversion factor to compute solid volume. In some applications the user measures an average diameter of the logs by sampling. By giving the log length an average volume/ per log can be computed. Multiplying this mid log volume by the count of the logs gives the total volume.
